This is mostly due to their upcoming specials airing on Disney+ and the new partnership that the BBC has with Disney.

While there isn't any indication that this is going to be a new reboot or if anything from 2005 to 2023 is going to be retconned. It does appear that the BBC is treating this new Disney era as a new era for Doctor Who.

The specials will begin with the 60th Anniversary special which sees David Tennant return to the show as The Fourteenth Doctor with it being teased that we may see The Fifteenth Doctor, portrayed by Ncuti Gatwa, near the end of the trailer.
