Topic: I tried to export my first YouTube video

Anonymous A started this discussion 2 years ago #114,304

But my computer doesn't have enough RAM to export it. It ran out of memory when it was 97% done and my computer shut down.

I remember the days when 8GB was enough to do anything. Now you have to have over 9000 GB RAM to even export a simple 58-minute-long video.

That isn't a ram problem, it's mostly likely your processor heating up.

I'm using a MacBook Air that I bought in 2020. Any advice on how to fix this problem other than getting a real computer?

Yeah this doesn't seem like a ram issue. B is probably right. See if the video editing software has some kind of feature to scale back CPU usage when rendering. Alternatively, make sure your laptop is getting proper airflow. Clean out any dust, make sure it's on a flat surface where the fans aren't being blocked, etc.

Can of air if your friend. Sometimes them fans will pull in hair too, they can wrap and slow the blades down just enough and when it gets under a load it will heat up.

If this mac was working ok for your previous uploads it is probably an air flow to the motherboard. If the fan is clean and spinning freely might try and set it off the desk a half inch and see if that helps.
