Topic: Seriously, who the fuck spends so much effort hating on Disney?

Cathabis !TGirlYJKXM started this discussion 2 years ago #114,264

These people who makes the argument of Disney being 'woke' all seem to forget that the reasons why they're 'woke' have always existed.

It seems like the reason why Disney is 'woke' is because they focus on inclusivity? Like this message didn't exist in their films before 'woke' was a word.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a movie with a protagonist who is a 'freak,' a woman from an oppressed people, and a villain who is a high official in the church.

Had the ride It's A Small World After All opened today it would've been called the wokest ride ever.

It's getting kind of dumb.

Catherine a person your age should not be getting this invested in movies made to entertain children. You need to grow up and become an adult. Your parents will not be around to give you food and shelter forever, watching children's movies will not pay for food or rent.

Do you think anyone from Disney was around in 1831 when The Hunchback of Notre-Dame was originally published. Do you think they had very much influence on the basics of its plot?

Well, no shit, the same for any other fairy tale story. The Brothers Grimm also tampered with a lot of the stories when they published them.
Nobody was bitching about Disney being woke back when the classic animated adaptions were around.

you don't have "your own money" until you aren't being subsidized by mom and dad. you have an allowance, because that bit of pocket change you earn should be going towards the rent and utilities you're leeching. you're probably being claimed as a dependent on their taxes, so be careful not to fuck your parents even harder. the other poster is right, you need to make a plan or get full retard status so the government can take care of you

Who knows? But it’s mostly just an American custom. The rest of the world the family unit is an important aspect of life. Though the American custom will likely disappear once more people start determining that it’s financially more secure to remain with family. Leaving the only reason for leaving being due to abusive or toxic households.

Classic Disney was not woke, in that it adhered to somewhat outdated, traditional tropes and archetypes, such as a prince (strong male) and princess (vulnerable female), a clearly defined villain, themes of good vs. evil, traditional romance between a man and a woman, realisation of the main character's true metal, and so on.

Modern Disney rejects these themes and instead attempts to cater to a more progressive, woke audience, very often getting it wrong, because by the time they've decided on, say, what a woman is, the definition was updated last week and now they're also in trouble with the alphabet people because they left out 2 new letters... or the prince isn't emasculated enough, or the princess isn't a strong independent beautiful transgender down syndrome lesbian double amputee from Nigeria... and, well, who the fuck really cares?

You never provided any of your words or Google's words for this: Now in your own words define what "modern day, progressive, culturally marxist, and politically correct behaviors and opinions" entails.
@1,264,843 (J) indicates that you merely instructed me to get Google's word. You failed to address this, but perhaps I should be more forgiving since it's easy to miss points for somebody with no imagination, low intelligence, and a poor education.

So, as I said in my first comment - it's classic Disney. It is not woke.

> You never provided any of your words or Google's words for this:
You asked me to define 'woke' in my own words, which I did. However, I draw the line at being lead down the garden path of painstakingly defining every word in my definition (and then what, every word in the definitions of the definitions?) when you can very easily look them up yourself.

I'll skip the rest of your nonsensical, echolalia-ridden comment.

I can't get your words on Google.

You're basically telling me that you can't answer the question because you have nothing to really say. Which discredits your cookie-cutter definition of 'woke' that you likely got from Google.

This wasn't the assignment and therefore you get an

A lot of people think that (including Wikipedia) but it is not true. It came from the Frankfurt school, which was critical of Marxism as a standalone theory, and sought to combine it with the ideas of Hegel and Nietzche. It certainly wasn't a Nazi-born ideology, and a lot of it went directly against Nazi "values".

Read Eric Fromm - a German Jew who escaped from Nazi Germany to the US - one of the main proponents of the Frankfurt school of critical theory.

Edit: I see Wikipedia laughably calls this a right wing conspiracy theory. Whoever wrote that doesn't have a clue.
