... especially those of you who virtue signal by crying "Slava Ukraine!".
Slava means Glory. Why are you allowed to say, "Glory to Ukraine!", i.e. call for and celebrate Ukrainian supremacy, but it is forbidden in your world ever to say, "Glory to the USA!" or "Glory to Britain!", i.e. call for and celebrate the supremacy of your own country?

Proxy nationalism is acceptable. Nationalism isn't. Thus, an English person flying a Ukrainian flag outside his house is fine, laudable even, but if he flies the flag of St George he's a xenophobe. Why? Don't ask, just because. It's like when Manchester United player Marcus Rashford tried to highlight the issue of child poverty in Britain and then-Home Secretary Liz Truss said that footballers should stay out of politics, and then 2 years later then-Prime Minister Liz Truss was cajoling footballers to get involved in politics and publicly support Ukraine. Situational "values" are the West's speciality.

It's so fucking weird. Seems like it's only the West that behaves like this. I can't imagine Russians or Chinese people being too embarrassed (or whatever) to fly their flags or to be seen as patriotic.

Western people are fundamentally the same as non-Western people: they by and large want to support oppressed people. Unfortunately for Westerners, their governments increasingly think 1984 was a manual and are dictating to them whom they can and can't support (notice how Germany and France have banned pro-Palestinian demonstrations, and the UK is now trying to legally tie support for Palestine with support for Hamas). You may recall that whole preposterous "I Stand With The Women of Iran!" campaign from last year that Western governments and their media forced down everyone's throat. This happened because they wanted everyone to stop talking about the Taliban re-enslaving Afghan women, so they manufactured a new 'acceptable cause' for people to channel their concern. The same is happening now with Israel and the same will happen in 2025 with Taiwan. Again: situational values.

Do you think people would be more lenient if they knew that George of Lydda and his mother, Polychronia, were actually Palestinians?
Albeit Greek / Christian... so I suppose that doesn't count. Never mind.
