data mentions French as a derelict language in some episode or another but I think there were later episodes where French was more commonplace. in any case it's a small world in the future when you can hop in a transporter and go anywhere on earth p much. not exaggerating sisko mentioned something about going back to NOLA from SF every day for dinner when he started at the academy I think

but see where it goes wrong is when actors don't even try. i watched the series the Boys and the kiwi lead dude is supposedly British?? but I thought his character was like kiwi/aussie until someone like called him British in the show and I had to Google it. I guess thats not an issue for most American viewers but it's weird
