I've never had poppies or opium but I would love to try them. I do mix Valerian root in with my pot sometimes for a different type of high.

I grew a patch of poppy flowers this year, someone gave me a bunch of plants, but they turned out to be the wrong kind lol. I was SO gonna be on an opium binge this winter. :-/
All my disappointment. You should totally try poppy seed tea though! I'm biased to opiates... they are heavenly. I've avoided ever buying them to avoid addiction, I can see how they would be addictive.

Poppy seeds aren't illegal, nor are growing the flowers, you can get seeds online no problem. The only thing illegal is using them to get high in any way.

I dunno the kind specifically, but they sure weren't the big fat pods you see on the right kind of poppy, they were small hairy/fuzzy pods. My stepdad manages a nursery and they received a bunch of plants they didn't order, only labeled "Asian poppy", he hooks me up with plants every spring and in this years plants was a few flats of the poppies.
