We all post what we've learned about any socializing in this thread. Who knows, maybe we'll write a book.
For me, I've learned that subtly mimicking the gestures, expressions, and statements of others can help discourse. Also, to see if someone's interested in you or something you know, look at a distant area while keeping them on the very edges of your peripheral vision. If they look at the same thing, they're probably paying attention to you. This works best if they're reading or appear preoccupied.
Additionally, eye contact is good, but you should slowly shift your gaze from the left eye to the right, then briefly to the nose, then back to the left so you don't seem to be glaring at them. People are often brought to unease at transfixed attention.
If you're a guy, avoid facial hair or anything that makes you look overly macho. In modern society, women value cleanliness and sophistication over brute strength - just look at the type of guys fangirls draw, briefly. That's not to say fitness is unimportant, even western women instinctively want a guy who can "defend" them in their hearts of hearts. It's just they want him to have a smooth face and a nice cologne.
Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to see if trends develop in suggestions and beliefs. We all will have some things wrong, which is why we need correction and dissension. And those corrections and dissensions might be wrong. However, what we will go for is the majority view. It's all about participation, no matter how much or little you think you know.
