That's great, it's just not treason in any meaningful sense of the word, though.

No one said it was treason. It is however, very anti-American to threaten the press for being critical of the government.

It's hard to pin down an exact date (a bit like asking when, exactly the Roman Empire collapsed). Different people will argue different dates.

I would say the election of FDR and our entry in WWII signaled the end of America's greatness.

Anonymous A (OP) replied with this 2 years ago, 5 minutes later, 20 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,258,887

@previous (Meta !Sober//iZs)
Certainly not. But I am asking about America. You think it was "great" at a time when much of society was not equally treated. You want to "make it great again," implying you want a return to that.

@1,258,884 (Meta !Sober//iZs)
Bad take. The height of American technological and cultural power was after WWII, not before. After Europe suicided, the US was the only player left in town. In retrospect, the USSR wasn't nearly the threat it was made out to be and the US was the sole superpower for longer than is commonly acknowledged. I would say somewhere around the time of the Apollo missions was the peak. I think the symbolism really captures it on multiple levels.

We could have also achieved great things without the war. It's not like technology stopped in 1945!

Anonymous D replied with this 2 years ago, 6 minutes later, 20 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,258,905

@previous (Meta !Sober//iZs)
Could have, but probably wouldn't of. Destroying Europe, particularly Germany as the scientific leader not only pushed the US up (relatively), but also absolutely. Many of the people involved in the Manhattan project, and various Nasa programs were directly from Germany. Without the war, they would've have had no reason to have immigrated away from the center of science, technology, culture and so on.
