Studies have shown that black people are more likely to receive longer and more severe sentences than white people. This effect remains even when it's matched for the nature of the crime.

I think there are definite problems in assuming this is purely or at all due to racism, but I haven't fully made up my mind.

What do you think?

Also income levels may change the typical crimes committed
