I downloaded the 2 seasons of the show, but I'm hesitant to watch it. The way Atlantis ended was a total drag, and I don't want to get into a show that won't be nicely tied up. AFAIK there are no plans to make any new episodes of Universe.
Should I watch it or will it just disappoint me?

SG-1 and Atlantis were great. The only thing I didn't like about Atlantis was that it got canceled.

Morena Baccarin (Inara) from Firefly is Adria in SG-1, and Jewel Staite (Kaylee) is Dr. Keller in Atlantis, but AFAIK those are the only stargate-Firefly crossovers.

She wasn't in firefly, but she was a guest on one episode of Atlantis IIRC. She played some doctor on an all female SG team.
Only thing I really know her from is DS9, though.

all these shows (and the actresses) are getting older. Man I remember thinking Amanda Tapping was bangin in the first few seasons of SG-1, but not so much a decade later.
Morena Baccarin is only 32, but I can't stand what she did to that beautiful, curly black Brazilian hair.

It's really slow in the beginning, but picks up in the second season. Too bad there are only 2 seaons. I feel like that show could have become something special when they explore further into Ancient technology.
The way it was written and produced it a lot different from Atlantis or SG-1. It seems like they tried to ride on the coattails of Battlestar Galactica.
All things considered, I'll give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

Atlantis got really fucking good towards the end. They ended it, but very half assed. They didn't tie up the Asuran (Pegasus Galaxy human form replicators) arc at all, and the Wraith had just stepped their game up and gotten really badass when Atlantis got canceled. Michael was set to be the most badass sci-fi villain of any show ever, and his character arc was just left hanging. I also wanted to see Aiden Ford come back, and I think Elizabeth Weir would probably have returned as an antagonist as well, since her consciousness was transferred into a replicator body and the Atlantis team lied to her and jettisoned her into space.

It's currently sitting in limbo indefinitely, though.

SG-1 could have ended with season 8, although I really didn't like the Anubis arc. I thought Anubis was nowhere near as good of a villain as Ba'al, and wish he had been the main antagonist after Apophis was killed. To rub salt into that wound, Continuum kind of sucked, and I think the writers completely botched Ba'al's arc. FWIW I really liked seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1. The Ori were fucking cool, Vala and Mitchell were good characters, well Mitchell was okay and Vala is my second favorite character from that series next to Daniel Jackson. Adria was a great villain (not to mention Morena Baccarin is right up there with Olivia Wilde in terms of TV stars that are just absurdly hot), and The Ark of Truth was a fantastic movie, as well.

I think it's worth the experience. The characters are interesting and the plot development is usually pretty decent, albeit slow at first.
Go for it! Being at least a little disappointed that it ended so soon is inevitable for any show that ends before it's prime, but I still think it's worth watching.

They did the best they can, but I think you would find it unsatisfying to be honest.
If your the kind of person that judges a show by its ending then you probably wouldn't like it.
It leaves off on a pretty sizable cliffhanger.
I enjoy the journey just as much as the ending, so having a meh ending isn't a deal-breaker.

Usually what happens is that I get really hooked on a show, and TBH Atlantis was the first show I've ever watched that got cancelled prematurely and didn't have a movie to tie it up. I didn't see Serenity until over a year after I finished watching Firefly, though, so I can prolly handle it. I'll watch it. Why the fuck shouldn't I?
