On a serious note, I can understand why. People are afraid I'll make Minichan "too serious," or start banning for petty grammar-related issues. I wouldn't, but it's easy to see why others would make the assumption. The board's general attitude towards me is pretty much why I didn't put my name forward in the first place.
If I were a mod, I wouldn't try to change the "spirit" of the board; I think a sliding scale of moderation would work best. General/obvious garbage threads would be left to their own devices, but any attempts at a serious discussion would be watched for any obvious trolling/spam. It seems to be what the admins are proposing as well.

Before pre-moderation, I liked the Recent Post Overview. He removed it after pre-moderation as it was pretty damn useless then, but seeing every reply and topic created with a direct link to the poster ID was quite useful.
