Topic: Ukraine releases interview with a Russian pilot who defected to Ukraine!
Father Merrin !u5oFWxmY7U started this discussion 2 years ago#113,190
"What is going on now is simply the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine will unequivocally win this war simply because the people are very united. Before they were not like this, but now they are very unified. The whole world is helping them"
The pilot also urged other Russians in the military to defect to Ukraine.
“You'll be provided for, for the rest of your lives. You will be offered a job everywhere, no matter what you do. You'll simply discover a world of colors," he said.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting what this "Russian pilot" promising a dream job in a world of colours is saying. I merely offer additional information.
Oops, sorry I missed some context out. Please see below
Let me say that we perfectly aware of the concerns and allegations around the crime…; we are investigating this step-by-step. As of now, we do not have sufficient evidence to meet the legal qualifications of the Genocide Convention.”
At the same time, Møse pointed out that the commission has recorded a large number of violations by Russian forces, including intentional killings, illegal detentions, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence, deportation of children
> Dave here. > > Oops, sorry I missed some context out.
No I didn't. The UN has determined there isn't sufficient evidence of genocide. If you want to discuss war crimes, here's an International Court of Justice catalogue of them committed by Ukraine against residents of the Donbass for the last decade (it's a pdf file, hence the unwieldy link):

That is a Russoan government filing that is so over the top I'm not sure even through people who wrote it believe it in its entirety. From the Yahoo article you linked though
"In March, the commission issued a report confirming that Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine, systematic torture, rape, and murders in occupied territories were tantamount to war crimes, and possibly crimes against humanity."
So it's not genocide it's just war crimes and possible crimes against humanity. Phew.

Oh wow, because Ukraine did bad stuff in the past, Russia must not be doing bad stuff currently, how could I have been so blind

I haven't read that report but it's worth noting it's not from the OSCE (which isn't part of the UN). It's a report from the Moscow-based "Foundation for the Study of Democracy" from 2015.
And no, one side committing war crimes doesn't make it right. War crimes are always wrong, which is why the sane thing to do would be to end this war. Which will only happen when Ukraine inflicts a total strategic defeat upon Russia. Until that happens, Ukraine must continue to fight for as long as it takes.

Genocide is so wishy-washy. You have to determine the intent. Today's war crimes can be part of tomorrow's genocide, if it feels like a genocide has taken place later on.

If you subtract a few IQ points, this topic is basically similar to Bert's topics where he posts a dodgy source proclaiming how great Trump is and how the Democrats are pure evil. Dave has become a mouthpiece for Russian propaganda and it is disappointing.
> Dave has become a mouthpiece for Russian propaganda
I suppose the BBC is Russian propaganda too? While Zelenskiy and his mates were squirreling away some of those millions you've been sending him, here is how Ukraine treats its disabled children, 3 years into the "new Winston Churchill's" presidency:
> Bro, did you even watch your own linked source? This is all due to the Russian invasion
Fuckin' LOL, you're blaming even THIS on Russia now??? Here, more about the BBC's investigation:
"Eric Rosenthal, Executive director of Disability Rights International, says that many children with disabilities in Ukraine have been subject to malnutrition over a lifetime, not just since the start of the war.
Indeed, this culture of institutionalisation, abuse and neglect towards disabled people long predates Russia’s invasion"

And a reminder that while that "abuse and neglect" of disabled children was going on, your new heroes Zelenskiy, Shmyal, Kuleba and co were buying up property for themselves in Switzerland and Italy.

I wouldn't call Zelenskiy my hero. He is a guy doing his absolute best to avoid his country being fully invaded by fucking orks.

Nope. He's a guy selling off the future of Ukraine and the Ukrainians to Washington and London elites. He's being strung along by NATO (NATO being America's instrument of maintaining military and economic dominance over Europe). I said it 2 years ago and I say it again now : Ukraine will be sacrificed. Zelenskiy has now ripped up 2 agreements with Russia (Minsk and the 2022 Ankara agreement) on the orders of his Western handlers, so don't tell me he's trying to "save Ukraine". His task is simple: weaken Russia by throwing expendable Ukrainians at it for as long as possible.

By the way you may have seen that Ukraine is now conscripting (terrified) physically and mentally unfit people to fight on the front lines because they're running out of healthy Ukrainian men. Since you guys keep saying that this is a war to defend Europe's and America's freedom, why are you healthy European and American men allowing Ukraine to die alone for you like this? Go help them!! Here's the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. Let me know when you've signed up.
> He's constantly put his life on the line for a more free Ukraine.
Again: utterly, utterly brainwashed about who this man is.
> >Zelenskiy has now ripped up 2 agreements with Russia > > Waa?? Why would anyone do that? Russia is so wholesome and trustworthy
You see the batshit logic you guys use? Zelenskiy ripped up agreements he had signed because it's Russia that is unreliable.
Russia has hundreds of thousands of agreements with countries from Asia, Africa and South America. You cannot name 1 that has ever been broken. At some point the West may want to consider who the common denominator is. Don't think that imposing a billion sanctions on every country that doesn't do your bidding is somehow a softer form of breaking agreements. Don't think that endlessly weaponising global finance isn't fucking around with every contract and agreement ever signed.
> >By the way you may have seen that Ukraine is now conscripting (terrified) physically and mentally unfit people > > At least he's not conscripting terrified men to attack another country. I mean, who would do that?
Have you signed up to help Ukraine fight for your freedom yet?

Go on, keep belittling the actions of Ukraine with your claim of handlers.
Calling it a proxy war is another belittlement of Ukrainian interests.

Ukrainians are not dying for my freedom. They are dying for yours. So why aren't you helping them instead of leaving them to conscript HIV patients and unfit 60 year old men with kidney disease?
Let me know when you've joined up. Here's the link:
President Biden disagrees with you. He says that Ukraine is fighting for the entire West's freedom. That is why it is essential to 'support' them "for as long as it takes".
