I've been stuck on neon for hours because I don't want to toss the Aurora I bought before leaving. I'm in the middle of a gang war, so I should be able to use it and then fly away.

Anyway, here is my in-depth review of this Bethesda video game: "Haha I enjoy customising my ship and shooting people with my laser gun. Space/10"
I know the critical response has been a little lukewarm, but personally I'm having a great time. And, for me, the most exciting part is that Bethesda games actually get much better with age, once the modders get in refine the game and add cool stuff. The mod tools will be out next year, and I think we're gonna see some very cool stuff then.

I think I just lost like 4 hours of progress to a bug. I think it's a bug anyway. I'm trying to carefully google it without getting spoilers but from what I'm reading it's a semi common bug... My ship randomly became inaccessible, half my crew vanished (not just from the world but also from the crew menu), and an important plot thing on my ship disappeared. The most recent save I have before it borked itself is from 4 hours of gameplay ago. I am big sad

I still haven't played it, is the update an improvement? I know there were a ton of complaints when the game first launched.

Nice, I'm trying to decide what to play after I finish Starfield. That's a contender.

Figured out what caused this: modifying my ship! I don't know why it's happening now when I've modified my ship over and over again with no issue before. I'll do some more experimenting later tonight but swapping out my grav drive made it happen consistently.
So anyone playing this game, always save before you modify your ship, and double check it after you modify it!!! Make sure you can still board it normally, and that all the crew you assigned to it are still there, and especially make sure the plot thing is still there (if you're far enough along in the story you know what I'm referring to)! Reload your save if anything seems off because this is potentially game breaking and from what I've read, might prevent you from completing the main story.

Do the dialogue options make any difference yet? Can you burn the city, or do you still just die at the end? Do the character archetypes have separate stories or just the one story still? Can you enter all the buildings and go anywhere yet? Can you romance Keanu? Can you customize your vehicle? Is it still just the two penis options and one vulva option?

There is no new dialogue, at least not for the main quest. There's some new lines for the new GTA style heat system which I didn't want and Keanu will show up in your apartments now. You mean like the backstory for the player character? That stuff hasn't changed. You cannot enter all buildings but many you can even though they don't have anything. No vehicle customisation. You can also have no genitals but that was before the update as well

After doing some experimenting I have determined my save is entirely goofed. Any modifications at all to my ship, no matter where I obtain said modifications, results in some random combination of side effects mentioned previously - ship becoming inaccessible, crew disappearing, and important plot thing vanishing. As well, you're supposed to be able to move the plot thing around, but it is locked to my current ship. I can remove it from my ship, but I can only add it back to the same ship. Meaning that for any missions related to this plot thing, I am forced to use this specific ship with this specific configuration. What a load of ass. No idea how far back I'd have to go to get to a save from before this happened. I'm just gonna roll with it I guess. I already lost four hours, plus all the time spent experimenting and trying to troubleshoot. Very inconvenient but as long as I'm diligent in checking my ship constantly to make sure everything is still good, I think I should be able to at least finish the main story.

After further testing, I am fucked and cannot beat the game. I need to make upgrades to my ship or purchase a new ship to get further in the story. Doing either causes the plot thing on my ship to disappear. The other side effects are random but that one is consistent. I was hoping I could just buy a new ship, progress the story, and switch back to my normal ship with the plot thing. Nope. Completely fucked.

Yeah I've been messing around with that too. First I was trying to solve the root of the problem with no luck at all. Then I tried to use it to make the modifications to the ship that I need to progress. Also no luck. The only thing left I can think to try would be, any time I need to make a grav jump greater than what my current ship can do, just use console commands to teleport to my destination. Not ideal and very clunky. And I'm still stuck with this same ship configuration forever. But I guess it's better than nothing :(

Welp trying to get around this with console commands just gives me issue after issue. I think I might just have to give up on this game. :(

Ignore my previous madposting; I managed to duct tape my save back together with console commands, following lots more testing and even more issues.. And I was finally able to complete the game. Bugs and such aside, this is a phenomenal game. Highly recommended once some more patches come out that smooth over the more frustrating and game-breaking bugs.
