Topic: A highly rated restaurant tried to pass off a lentil soup as Soup de Jour.
Anonymous A started this discussion 2 years ago #112,577 I eat out frequently and have had this splendid dish before. Today when I ordered, I noticed halfway through that it was not in fact Soup de Jour!
There was no beef in the soup, and no carrots.
When I told my server, she tried to convince me Soup de Jour is a a "changing" recipe.
Yes dishes evolve over time, but I had Soup de Jour just the prior month and I don't think the culinary norms have changed so quickly LOL!
I had to speak to two different people but they finally comped the meal.
Given how expensive meals are getting, no one should play along with the mistakes. There are too many good restaurants for me to tolerate this.

it's de jour, no? (Edited 36 seconds later.)
