I'm not a fan of the fbi or right wing nut jobs (but I repeat myself), so I don't care about this case particularly.
I think James Earl Ray probably killed MLK, he certainly fits the profile. Hoover would've had no compunction with offing MLK though, i just dont think he did.

My understanding of this trial is that it was largely a show trial for a trivial amount of money that nobody really contested or took seriously.

It entered into the record thousands of documents that cast doubt upon the official story. The DoJ was so worried about the outcome of the trial, they tried to refute as much evidence and write off as many witnesses as unreliable as possible. Many people were taking it seriously.

Which documents cast doubt on the story convincingly? Why was DOJ worried about the outcome of the trial if they lost it entitely and almost no one today seems to know about it or care?
