It would seem to contradict what we understand about natural selection shaping behavior, but only if people are choosing this over heterosexual sex. In reality most gays didn't do well in the regular league, and dropped out.
Getting your knob rubbed by another man is cheaper and less drama than a woman, and reproductively equivalent to rubbing your knob in a woman who's taking the pill.
Two men building real estate equity, getting tax breaks, and taking occasional trips to SE Asia will have more reproductive success than your typical simp.

The deer needs wolves to eat them. If the deer eat the plants a lot, the plants not enough to the deer it leave little to many not enough plant. Deer population die out. The wolves eat the deer, keep the deer at good level. This is why gay.

This does seem like a more simple way to live but I imagine if two truly hetero dudes who lived this way for the reasons you state (monetary, base-level sexual gratification) would ditch their dude partner for a female as soon as they found a willing girl
