You can be against policies that would subsidize phones, and still get as much back from the government if they pass those bad policies.
They try to pin this on Ayn Rand constantly because she took out from social security, as if that were some evidence of hypocrisy. It's not. She was never against taking out of welfare programs you're forced to pay into, but she did want to see the whole program eliminated.
As long as you're forced to pay half your income to the government as tribute, take as much back as you can.
