Topic: 3 years late to the party but the 2020 adaptation of The Stand is nowhere near as shit as folk said.

Just watched it. Yeah it has its flaws but I kind of really enjoyed it, and bear in mind I love the novel and the 1994 TV miniseries with Gary Sinese and Molly Ringwald. No idea why this new adaptation is so hated.

It is, that's what's so out of place. The ending is the exact ending of the novel, and I don't think it fits everything that went before.

Just finished a rewatch of the series. It's actually very, very good. Even better than I first thought. Owen Teague as Harold Lauder is the MVP of the show, and Amber Heard (perhaps predictably) plays the cold-blooded sociopathic bitch Nadine Cross to absolute perfection. A very underrated series, I kind of love it.

I watched it and thought it was fine. It wasn't spectacular, but it made for good watching. I might rewatch it soon.
People hate it because they're jumping on the bandwagon. It's a popular show everyone watches and feels they must "hate" to fit in (but secretly enjoys it).

I never watched the series and I expected the book to be boring like some of King's other books during that time. One day I decided to give the audiobook a shot and I was hooked pretty quickly, fantastic stuff. How does the series compare to the novel?

I haven't read the book but this is more of a so bad it's good show. I think it was supposed to be a TWD competitor that would run for 10 seasons and that's how the dome thing is handled too. Dean Norris is in it!

I'm on episode 4, and had never seen the Harold Lauder actor before, but I completely agree he is killing it. Even though the original Harold Lauder was written a bit differently, the dialogue and acting is just so on point with the original Harold Lauder character in the novel.
