I work for a subcontractor for a large American bank. My job entails inspecting and doing routine maintenance on properties that said bank owns. Now, naturally I have to do real work, but the company that I answer to is based in another state. I get paid by the pictures I send in, and I can totally shoop my pictures to make it look like I did more work than I actually did. I don't really have any moral objections to this because I work for a huge bank, but is this idea really worth it for an extra ~100 bucks a month? I could potentially get fucked for fraud? :/

I haven't done this on a big enough scale that I'd get in trouble for it yet, but I wonder...

I used to do that same kind of work, inspecting homes and appraising them for banks. Probably not worth it, I wouldn't worry so much about getting in trouble, I'd worry more about losing the gig.

yarite? I make about $1000/month with this, and only work about 10 hours per week. It's a choice fucking job -- I can do it whenever I want as long as I meet my deadlines.

Point taken :)

Assuming you're new to this and an independent contractor, keep all your gas/lunch receipts and write that shit off as much as you can, keep it somewhat legit. Uncle Sam will come knocking for a big wad of money come tax season.

I'm 10-99 on this job, and have been doing this shit since my teens. Most of this job is driving, and believe-you-me, 55.5 cents is being written off for every mile I drive.

I also pay my estimated quarterly :)

Is there any chance someone (other than the bank) might take a loss because of this? Does this mean some couple will move into a home whose ceiling is ready to fall in after being told it's in good condition by the seller?

Oh, I re-read what you wrote. I guess my brain was elsewhere. You could probably shoop 'em a bit, but I definitely wouldn't go overboard. Technically it is fraud, but it's what I would do if I could. I wouldn't make every property look amazing either 'cause that seems kinda sketchy. I'd say go for it though. Then again, I love to fraud.

No. The only potential loss is to the bank that owns the houses. They are all vacant, and either foreclosures or short sales.
