Less than half the cost of an apple vision pro, and this can navigate complex terrain.

Has an RF backdoor, any handheld programmable radio can be used as a kill switch, leaving this thing dead in the mud.

> Has an RF backdoor

Your neighbor buys 10, and equips guns to them. Someone should be able to turn them off.

There's a chance that some dork will turn yours off on a run, but that's a small price to pay for stopping the terminator army.

I looked it up and the $1600 model you're salivating over can only do 9kmh max (in a lab setting). And that 8,000 mAh battery? Way too small.

But you can't even afford ghost hunting equipment, so keep dreaming

tape some laptop batteries to it, there are controllers that can handle multiple batteries easily.

You don't buy everything from the manufacturer marked up.

The LIDAR, limbs, and software to learn new tricks is what you're paying unitree for. Expand the machine yourself at home, and there's a lot of affordable possibilities.

First you claim this robot will have a meaningful impact in global conflicts then when presented with evidence that's it's trash and a handheld radio powered by a AA battery can take it down... you backpedal and try to make it about a nerd pranking you on a jog.

You can disable the killswitch yourself. Do you understand the concept of jailbreaking a device?

The manufacturer has to preinstall a few easy-to-remove safety features so they can avoid liability.

There are already people who have recorded themselves strapping automatic weapons to the top.

Editing one line of firmware to remove the killswitch is within capabilities of any amateur.

China has already used militarized robodogs to brandish weapons at protestors, and to remotely inject men staying out past covid curfews with trazadone and estrogen: https://www.businessinsider.com/china-machine-gun-mounted-robot-dog-black-mirror-2022-10

Nobody has removed the kill switch yet. It's built into the power board. Do you have a PCB manufacturer in your garage? Didn't think so. This sort of thing will always an arms race, but guess what... I'd survive an EMP, the dog wouldn't.

No one has disabled one of these dogs with an EMP.

Some older technology is vulnerable to this, the dog will be fine. EMPs lose effectiveness quickly at long distances, and do not disable all devices.
