Topic: When the angry anons accuse people of being a layabout
Anonymous A started this discussion 2 years ago #112,013 I laugh. It is LIE-about, not LAYabout. To lay is tp place something down. To lie is to place your body prone like you are in bed or on a sofa. So when you think you are insulting people for being a layabout, you are really doing two things:
1. Accusing them of placing things down all about their house.
2. Showing your gross ignorance of the English language.

So? The verb "lay" means to place things down. Go learn actual English instead of embarrassing yourself posting dictionary definitions, since English has no official dictionary,

I'm starting to see why you didn't last 2 minutes 'teaching' Chinese kids how to ask the way to the beach.

He had to pay thousands of dollars for a worthless piece of paper that allowed him to 'teach' Chinese kids pidgin English. OP is not very bright.

The word is wrong. To lay means to place things down.

Maybe it comes from laying down tools instead of lying down to rest

Or to lay down your body to rest. Lay down your head to rest is a common expression.
