Great Britain is the largest island in the British Isles, comprising England, Scotland and Wales. Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the other smaller islands like Mann, Wight and Skye, as well as other territories like Falkland Islands, make up the United Kingdom.

@1,242,053 (Erik !saAqdaazn2) > Falklands isn't part of the UK. They are overseas territory
Yes they are an overseas territory OF THE UK, which means part of the UK.
@previous (Erik !saAqdaazn2) > And Wight is part of England
Correct, but it is not part of the Island of Great Britain. It is the Isle of Wight.

@1,242,057 (Erik !saAqdaazn2) > The Falklands are an overseas territory of the United Kingdom, not part of the UK.
You just contradicted yourself in the same sentence. A territory of the UK is a piece of land over which the UK claims sovereignty, i.e. it is part of the UK.

Hmm, it would appear you are correct, sir, however I remain perplexed. Something belongs to something, however, paradoxically we cannot say that it's a part of it. How very British.

I understand what Svet means it’s analogous to Puerto Rico or Guam. They are territories of the United States but they aren’t part of the United States as they aren’t actual states but they kind of are. It’s just semantics.
