I also suffer from sleep paralysis occasionally and this has not been my experience. Vivid, yes. Religious in nature? No. It's all occurring in your own mind. Your brain and the rest of your body are just not sure if you are asleep or awake, so you are in this weird interim state that feels extremely weird and unpleasant. If you are a person who had a strong religious upbringing, believes in demons and angels, etc. then those will manifest themselves in your sleep paralysis because it's all based on your mind. If you were raised not religiously or aren't religious, you will instead see people you know, or aliens, or mystical creatures or some other thing that you are familiar with.

I think there is genuine sleep paralysis too, but I think there is a second, similar but different experience involving demons.

lol demons do not only torment the evil. In fact, when examining Poltergeist cases (I firmly believe that Poltergeists are demons masquerading as ghosts), and even in demon infestation, there is no rhyme or reason to whom they choose, ALTHOUGH those who have played with the dark arts or Ouija or stuff like that are affected more overall.

that is a myth. While pubertal children are indeed often involved in Poltergeist cases, there are many without that element. Poltergeist's are demons.
