Ode to a Maiden's Gentle Whispered Song
Fair maiden, whose sweet whispers fill the air,
Thy countenance a vision, like flowers bloom,
Yet 'pon this topic, venture if I dare,
To speak of sounds that may cause hearts to gloom.
Forsooth, when ladies pass wind, 'tis a sight,
That doth unsettle notions of their grace,
But let us not cast judgment in the night,
For nature's call affects each earthly face.
Though dainty damsels may in secret break,
A wind that whispers in the silent eve,
'Tis naught but human, fragile frames at stake,
And thus, we ought this levity receive.
So, let us not diminish womankind,
For e'en in such moments, beauty we find.
