Yes. I try to convince them that global freedom itself is at stake but they don't believe me. I say "If Putin achieves his goals in Ukraine then he will not stop. He will invade the Baltics, Poland, Germany and then the UK". They say "That's the most retarded thing we've ever heard, what logical reason would he have to do that?", and I say, quoting Karine Jean-Pierre, "LOOOOL you're seriously trying to find logic in the actions of an insane man???" It's hopeless to talk to them, they are victims of Kremlin propaganda and they refuse to watch CNN to get the reality of the situation.

To be fair I do think that Putin would stop at Ukraine. I just believe that he needs to be stopped because he's committing genocide a d war crimes. He is also clearly robbing the Russian people of their freedom.

Being serious, I don't understand the Western logic of believing the best way to stop the war is to prolong a literally unwinnable war. I get everyone's using Ukraine as a live testing ground for their weapons, but surely a year has been enough time to do that. The ONLY way Ukraine can 'win' this war is with direct NATO involvement. This current policy of slowly drip-feeding Ukraine just enough weapons to not get rolled over is only leading to more Ukrainian misery and death.
Hard disagree on Putin robbing Russians of their freedom by the way.

Dave is right. All Russia wants is to take vast tracts of Ukrainian land, maybe install a puppet government. But those evil westerners keep helping Ukraine to fight back, and that's what's getting innocent people killed. Why can't everyone see how good Russia is? :(

Ukraine agrees to Putin's pre-war demands, as they were mostly ready to do last April following peace talks in Turkey before Boris Johnson showed up with his stupid little binder tucked under his arm and told them to keep fighting because he promised they'd break the Russian economy within a few months and force an end to the war that way (hence the West's piss-poor plan to properly arm Ukraine for a long war, taking months of squabbling to even decide to send a few useless tanks). As it stands Ukraine is now going to lose a lot more than Putin was demanding prior to the invasion. They should have just given him what he wanted 18 months ago. It's worth remembering that even the BBC said at the time that Putin's demands were actually quite reasonable, and it's insane the violence that has ensued from them.

Or, option 2: NATO gets directly involved. But this current Western strategy of expecting Ukraine to launch a successful counter-offensive, defined as kicking Russia out of Ukraine, against arguably the most fortified defence lines in military history despite having no air superiority, no ammunition superiority, and no man power superiority is dumb as fuck, and sticking Ukrainian flags in a bunch of abandoned villages and having the BBC convince people that it means Ukraine is winning is recklessly stupid.
> > Give in to a corrupt dictator's demands. > > > > Brilliant idea.
Those "demands" are in fact what Ukraine agreed to in the Minsk Accords and which Zelenskiy was elected in 2019 on the basis of a promise to "end the war" by implementing them. But you knew that didn't you?
In any case, what's your solution to ending this war? Other than the vague to the point of meaningless "helping Ukraine stop Russia!" horseshit repeated ad nauseum by Western leaders.

By the way early this morning Russia bombed an apartment building in Zelenskiy's home city of Krivoy Rih, killing 11 civilians. A year ago these stories were plastered over the front page of every news site. Today, the story disappeared off the front pages within a few hours. That's how normalised and desensitised to it people have become.
But sure, keep sending Ukraine a handful of tanks every 3 months to "stop Putin". Great strategy. Giving Russia 8 months to shore up defences, plant mines and dig trenches because the West fucked around for 12 months on whether to even give Ukraine tanks and air defense systems. Genius idea.

In my humble opinion, the only solution is to bathe Russia in nuclear fire. The sweltering heat of a nuclear Holocaust is the only way forward. Liberate their flesh from their bones, and their tune will change.
Or maybe just yield some territory and make some guarantees/assurances. But that's a lot less fun.
> >russia bombs a Ukrainian apartment building > > >fucking pathetic and woefully inadequate western support
Yep, pretty much. You sabotage the peace talks and press Ukraine to keep fighting only to then spend an entire year denying them the proper weapons, planes and air defenses that would actually help them win the war, forcing Zelenskiy to have to behave like a desperate beggar every other week. Great going.

I'll give you one thing, you're implacably consistent in parroting the literally retarded official Western narrative.
In any case I think we should leave it there for the time being. We'll return to the subject a few months from now when Ukraine, backed by 50 other countries, has liberated Crimea and caused the collapse of the Russian Federation. Slava Ukraini!
