He brought a lot of it upon himself. But let's look at the examples you cited. His father died, which is sad. My father died too. In most cases children tend to outlive their parents. Frankly I don't see how this affects anything: Robert Chandler died after the trolling had died down, at age 80.
His house burned down. Trolls from ED came and threw a Molotov cocktail? No, it burned down because CWC plugged in a coffee maker in his bathroom with a frayed extension cord.

Chris chan is now receiving much needed help due to said "stalkers". What would Chris even sue for? Seems to me Chris is the one that owes the "stalkers", not the other way around.

I think part of the appeal of Chris-chan, conscious or not, is that he has functioned as a crude satire of many social issues for years. Not only today, but going back to the classic era and beyond.
