I have images disabled. You'll have to describe the picture in words.

I just saw a transphobic past that was like, "In a sexual species, females have two X chromosomes and males have an X and a Y, I'm not a bigot it's lust science." I'm a science teacher, so I commented this.

First of all, in a sexual species, you can have females be XX and males be X (insects), you can have females be ZW and males be ZZ (birds), you can have females be females because they developed in a warm environment and males be males because they developed in a cool environment (reptiles), you can have females be females because they lost a penis sword fighting contest (some flatworms), you can have males be males because they were born female, but changed sexes because the only male in their group died (parrotfish and clownfish), you can have males look and act like females because they are trying to get close enough to actual females to mate with them (cuttlefish, bluegills, others), or you can be one of thousands of sexes (slime mold, some mushrooms,) Oh, did you mean humans? Oh ok then. You can be male because you were born female, but you have 5-alphereductese deficiency and so you grew a penis at age 12. You can be female because you have an X and a V chromosome but you are insensitive to androgens, and so you have a female body. You can be female because you have an X and a Y chromosome but your? is missing the SRY gene, and so you have a female body. You can be male because you have two X chromosomes, but one of your X's HAS an SRY gene, and so you have a male body. You can be male because you have two X chromosomes-but also a Y. You can be female because you have only one X chromosome at all. And you can be male because you have two X chromosomes, but your heart and brain are male. And vice - effing - versa. Don't use science to justify your bigotry. The world is way too weird for that shit.

it's true, you can be anything, including a good person, but, only if you choose to be. that's where we have choice in the matter. but, just like everything else, we can't choose who other people are. but a lot of people would absolutely make whatever choice for other people that they aren't willing to make for themselves. choose to be a good person. you CAN do that. but no one is going to make you.

it's ironic, i know. but it's true.

Flatworms can become female because they lost their penis in a dick sword fight? What the fuck? I have to look this up now because this sounds wild as fuck. Nature is amazing.

So basically that wall of text agrees that there are 2 sexes.

Male (presence of Y chromosome) and female (absence of Y chromosome).

Yup, we knew that already. Thanks.

That's a very well-written, informative wall of text.

But how does it justify sterilizing kids before they are legally old enough to get a tattoo?

Anonymous F replied with this 2 years ago, 38 minutes later, 14 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,232,406

@previous (H)
The short answer is that nobody is doing that. Like how that pizza parlor never had a basement.

Kids aren't taking puberty blockers? Objectively false.

like what if the kid says he's turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so?

Puberty blockers don’t sterilize children and they only delay puberty they don’t prevent it.

If you’re going to try to argue against trans things then get your shit right so you don’t look like a fucking retard in front of the medical and scientific community.

The concern is that there are so few studies investigating puberty blockers' safety, especially in the long term. Puberty blockers are foisted onto children with the guarantee they're "totally reversible", but there's evidence enough to say that, no, they probably aren't always.

I'd encourage you not to uncritically accept everything you're told by Healthline (or bullshit groups like WPATH) but I'd be wasting my breath.

> Show me you're [sic] credentials.

Appeal to authority.

Here's some reading material:

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/14/health/puberty-blockers-transgender.html

Here is the UK's NHS National Institute for Clinical Excellence finding the quality of evidence to be "very low" in terms of mental health outcomes: https://web.archive.org/web/20210422130502/https://arms.nice.org.uk/resources/hub/1070905/attachment

Here are two studies that discuss the adverse effects on bone density and - shocker - fertility:

https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/142/4/e20182162/37381/Ensuring-Comprehensive-Care-and-Support-for?autologincheck=redirected

https://karger.com/hrp/article-abstract/91/6/357/162902/Use-of-Gonadotropin-Releasing-Hormone-Analogs-in?redirectedFrom=fulltext

I'm not making it up when I say the evidence is lacking to claim they're "reversible". This also from the above:

Research on long-term risks, particularly in terms of bone metabolism62 and fertility,63 is currently limited and provides varied results.57,64,65

Another: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5290172/

The primary risks of pubertal suppression in gender dysphoric youth treated with GnRH agonists include adverse effects on bone mineralization, compromised fertility, and unknown effects on brain development.

That enough for you? There are plenty of researchers incredibly skeptical of the claims of reversibility. There's evidence fertility can be compromised, among many other deleterious outcomes.

I mean FFS just put "gonadotropin releasing hormone" into Google Scholar and read what you find with SciHub. It's not as clear-cut as either "side" desperately wants you to think. It never is. It's only children's lives at stake though.
