It's practically unavoidable: WikiLeaks, an organization devoted to the free dispersal of information, is now roaring with indignation over a violation of its supposed exclusive right to the “WikiLeaks concept.â€
In order for WikiLeaks’ vision to be realized, no organization can monopolize whistle-blowing operations.
Of course, it’s possible that whoever updates WikiLeaks’ Facebook and Twitter pages is an ideologically myopic Assange fanboy whose opinions do not represent those of WikiLeaks leadership. And, hearteningly, the hypocrisy of the anti-OpenLeaks position seems not to be lost on most of the pro-WikiLeaks community.
I still find it to be a complete waste of time on everyone's account.
This Domscheit-Berg guy seems to just be in it for the power trip.

I think pursuing this is more about Domscheit-Berg's perceived betrayal and the bad blood between him and Assange than it is about anyone running away with the WikiLeak's concept. I'm pretty sure WikiLeaks just wants to fuck with him, and they wouldn't be so critical if it were anyone else.
Also, what is astonishing about the whole story is the apparent lack of data security at WikiLeaks. I somehow thought Assange a little more James Bond than that -- As if he would just smile and say, "Wiped the files? No, silly. Aside from the flash backup I have lodged in my appendix, we have two other off site backups that you don't know about."
