Buddhists invented Kung Fu to use violence more effectively.
More recently, radical Buddhist monks formed a group called the Buddhist Power Force, or B.B.S., which provoked violence against the Hindu Tamil population of northern Sri Lanka, against Muslim immigrants, and also against moderate Buddhists who spoke up about the violence. They are still active today.
Don't forget the Rohingya Genocide, which is being carried out by hardline Buddhists to exterminate a minority group for their non-Buddhist beliefs. The Rohingya are muslim, and do not have the same history of violence that their oppressors do.

Atheism is compatible with Buddhism.
Pol Pot was raised Buddhist, was married in a Buddhist ceremony, and wrote positively of it multiple times.
Although it's not entirely fair to characterize him as an atheist, Buddhist, communist, or really anything other than a sociopath. He was not truly dedicated to anything other than himself. And his frequent 180 degree turns in policy reflect that loud and clear.
But the real point here, though, is not about Pol Pot but about the killing fields which were brought to you by millions of peasant Buddhists just like you. Thank you.

There is nothing really wrong with the religion. The problem really stems more from the practitioners and the traditions. Islamic society tends to care more about cultural traditions that contradict their religious principals. At least within the Middle East. Muslims in the West seem to be more chill.
This is the same with Christianity. Nothing inherently wrong with the faith, but the people have managed to drive away so many believers due to their focus on cultural traditions rather than any actual divine messages. Which makes it hilarious that both Christians and Muslims do not get along but that is likely due to the crusades which basically takes the Lord’s name in vain.
There are some goofy shit both faiths, but most of the time it’s people inventing their own doctrine.

There's profound wrong with a lot Islam teaches. Rajm (stoning) is barbaric. Quranists (Quran-only Muslims who reject the hadith) bypass this but they're a tiny minority.

That's an ironic thing to say.
