The pronunciation you use was invented to get around the jokes people were making about the original pronunciation, it's not the "correct" way to say it, it's a big fraud.

it was originally called George for 70 years. and at one time it was named Herschel. eventually the International Astronomical Union officially admitted it was fucked and that's why it's named after Uranus.
