Its possible, but almost unheard of to be proven innocent in the eyes of the law, in fact it may be impossible in this case since they've already plead guilty. The money may better be spent acclimating these guys back into society and helping them get on with their lives, perhaps even changing some laws to prevent these kinds of things from happening. If they find the real killer that would take care of it, but it seems unlikely at this point...

They aren't looking. They don't care. A conviction is a conviction. They won't waste police power on a case almost two decades old they got a conviction for.
