You should probably plan and work hard towards an exit strategy asap, some kids get into college at 17, and early into being 18 isn't unreasonable at all, I guess it all depends on how important it is to you. The military might also be an option to think about. Doesn't really sound like a healthy environment.

Just get back into a school system. Deal with the people you are around. You're going to have to deal with people sooner or later so better trial and error in school situations than business ones. Just put yourself out there and roll the dice.

I had my first real job at 14, worked mowing lawns through high school and went into landscaping the summer out of high school. I didn't really live much at home after I was about 16 though, lived with friends and had my first place at 18 and kids at 19. I never did go to college... always wished I had, and I think a lot about still going.

You meet people. Living in a dorm away from home helps you mature, and the social interactions are priceless. My friend and I who didnt have that experience were very much behind our other friends (in different ways).
You can also get a job working with lots of people in your age group. College makes it easy though.
You also are on your own. Your parents aren't there to tell you to do your homework or whatever, so it teaches you to be a capable adult.

Nursing is good, but it's hard. Money is insane. Recession proof (always a demand for nurses). It's stressful. Many places are understaffed. Male nurses are in even more demand. I was going to go for nursing, but realized it isn't for me. I'm not good with people for obvious reasons.
