There is no reason. Chickens' brains lack a prefrontal mammalian cortex and thus lack the ability to reason out the future. They act mostly by instinct.

Neither. They both evolved gradually and simultaneously. There are no discrete lines of distinction in evolutionary biology.

The chicken came first. The Bible tells us that God created them on the 6th day. No mention is made of eggs.
