Topic: What can I do to spend time instead of wasting it on imageboards?

Anonymous A started this discussion 2 years ago #110,014

I need to get a life. I don't know what to do in my free time except scroll 4chan and become even more demoralized.

Write a book. Take college courses. Go meet people. Take dancing lessons. Join a club. Etc.

Log on to Novel.ai and prompt it to generate a trilogy of paranormal romance novels.

AI writing is shit. Really write one I mean if he's looking for activities and goals.

Example of one of its brilliant novels:

A gay vampire is one thing, but a straight one? That's something else entirely. I'd never heard of such a thing before this morning. The thought had me wondering if maybe it was only the vampires who were different—and that would explain why there weren't any rumors about other races on Earth.
He farted, and I grimaced at the smell of sulfur in my nose. "You should have let me go when you had the chance."
"I couldn't. You've been my friend for years now," he said with a sigh.
His daughter farted into my nostrils, and I glared at her. It wasn't fair to take my anger out on someone else just because she was related to him.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, "but I didn't know you wanted to be alone."

Figure out what part of the writing is bad, and describe it to the AI so it knows what to avoid. If it's missing something, tell the AI to add it in.

AI is trained on human-written text, it writes like people do. Many human writers are bad, which is what you are seeing emulated. If you tell it what you want, it will give it to you.

wait a minute. meta is more than one person? like, people from here know other people proximal to other people from here?
and share interests in things I'd assume anonymously were the interests of a single person?

meta is possibly as many as 3 people?

I wasn't surprised to hear he was gay but this is kinda blowing my mind

do you do those things? I see people ask this kinda thing on social media and yeah, people toss out lists like this, dancing lessons, meet people, etc. but they don't take dancing lessons. not to be critical, but I've been in that boat before where it feels like I'm wasting my life, and don't know how to deal with it, try reaching out, etc. I'm sure you mean well and are just offering suggestions, and I don't mean to imply you aren't or even that these aren't things you genuinely do or would do, but personally when it was me going through that I found suggestions like this to be even more demoralizing. like, I could go fly a kite. or go take a long walk off a short pier. throw myself off of a bridge. or even not let the door hit me on the way out. I know that's not what people meant. but I can just Google what to do in my free time and get better results because they'll come with local suggestions and even dates for events and whatnot. but the list of vague cliché answers, yeah, kinda sucks to hear.

not like I have actual better ideas for op. I dunno how to answer either. but I do spend my time painting, and reaching out to old friends and family to try and re-establish connections. and that's been really difficult, but it actually has been really good, too. not everyone gives a flying fuck to hear from me and plenty I'm sure will be fine in their life that's got no room for me anymore, people have kids and lives with people in their past and that's where they'll stay with me too, I get that. and there are people I sometimes have heard from and thought, "eh, I'm not... trying to be bothered by a person I don't know anymore, like we were friends, but, a phone call? ugh. I'm not answering." although I regret having done that in the past.

live and learn. lists won't help with that. I'd say connections will, I just don't have much proof of it. but, yeah op is right imageboards aren't the answer. you'll get a thick skin tho.

so far you've given op a list of half assed cliché answers like you're Google and Bing's baby and ur missing a chromosome
have asked about pee pee lemonade.
referred to meta as a master of the skin flute.
and called meta obese in response to yet another reply that was meant for someone else.

I don't think I can take ur answers very seriously at all. what do you do to not waste your life on imageboards? take yoga classes? learn calligraphy? karaoke?

oh, it's easy. my parents always told people, "if you can walk, you can tango."
and it's true. they learned it in their 60s, and became instructors and taught well into their 70s. they were kind of locally well known as being connected with the tango scene in Buenos Aires. they traveled for it, to network and teach. I never was into it much. but yeah, you should try it, it's actually really simple.

https://www.ultimatetango.com/blog/all-you-need-to-know-before-starting-your-beginner-argentine-tango-lessons

As MIT Tango Notes rightly capture “Argentine tango is basically a walking dance. Argentineans say if you can learn to walk, the rest is easy. They also say you have to ‘walk your miles’ to learn to dance tango.”

the wikihow on tango says yes the tango is hard, and other how to sites that answer questions like "is such and so" thing easy or hard. and that stuff is crawling with ads from every local dance studio that pays for Google ad words and junk sites help push click through -you know what marketing funnels are right? like converting people from awareness, attract them through information gathering to consider they need a solution to a problem they have only just become aware of, and use value added content to push conversions towards establishing loyal customers who then influence others to have the same awareness and entry point.
most cursory information that can be gleaned from just a curious glance to see what something is will likely fall into the scope of modern marketing.
so, I'll just go ahead and say if you don't have mastery of the tango then I'd not bother with the argument you're making
it's not called a stride, it's called an 8-count basico.
it's the first thing you learn and takes 2 minutes.
Abrazo, adelante, adorno. Desplazamiento, boleo. Estas realmente a punto de morir en esta colina, amiga?

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you, you're giving partial answers if any at all, your super light on the details here. I'll give it to you, you say you're a dancer and go dancing and can honestly suggest dancing lessons or whatever are a part of how you live life and feel like its not wasted on image boards. that's fine and dandy.

you just don't seem interested to discuss it beyond saying that you do it. and, well trying to appear to try and school me on south American ballroom dancing that was traditionally danced in brothels by prostitutes (I'm not sure why you thought you needed to correct JUBILEE FUCKING STARSHINE after I had just said I learned it from my mama the international argentine tango dance instructor, but you don't listen to people, you just try to climb over, u know?)

but, anon a has vanished, which is weird, I thought they were ripe for character development.

definitely tho, do try and reconnect with family, and old friends from your life where possible. don't waste your life
pretending to be things that you're not to make yourself appear to be in a position from which you should be taken
seriously as you mock and try to make people who do put themselves out there feel shame for not letting their fears ruin
their lives in order to make yourself feel better, as if you are better, when in reality you could actually BE better if
you did a fraction of the things you claim you do.

take your own advise. take a dance class. I'll tell you, it's a lot of single women and there's never enough guys to go around.
the instructors will be beside themselves to try and retain you as a student and encourage you to dance often. you'll be invited into a whole social circle
and I've seen more people get sucked in and become "dance people" than anything else and I knew meth heads.

chances are really, really good you'll meet someone to marry. and that's the dang truth.
Lynn used to say stuff like that and he suggested it all the time for anyone that remembers.
I believed him because he accurately described the vibe of it. I doubt he exaggerated much, but idk.

I guess you're being honest, I'll quit letting you paint yourself into corners

it doesn't particularly feel good to intentionally target someone -estimated an easy target, is especially pitiable
but it doesn't feel good to try and engineer a way to ridicule, diminish, and heap insecurity onto, for what?
to boost your own self esteem?
here's a horror story for u - u are a vampire.
and you leech satisfaction and enjoyment from people you feel superior to and you never give anything back from yourself.
what do you make? what do you do? isvit all literally right here on this board, a massive pillar of retardation?
there's no conversation here, y'all mostly bitch about having to read messages on a message board.
but you love taking shots if it's something that'll make a drunk feel better than a meth head.
zing.
like I said in the God's a pedo rapist thread, nice sockpuppet army of same fags.
I guess this is a fun way to spend life for some people, ridiculing others, mocking them and trying to shame them.
I'm not very good at it, I can't even tell 1 anon from 3 anons, and I'm just not very funny. and I never much
liked TRYING to to make people feel bad about themselves. what's the point unless that IS the point?

is that who you are? like, for real? that's who you wake up in the morning and think, "that's who I'm going to be today?"
better than someone you think is an easy target to shame on the internet for being a person who you think is beneath you?
that definitely not how I'm waking up tomorrow. sorry if this feels "judgy" i'm probably not even speaking to you anyway
I guess if any of this Lands I am, if not I'm not. y'all, you can do and be and act like whatever, have a ball

but I think you can do better. idc who u are, u can do better. not that I know who anyone really is anyway.
I guess I'll see tomorrow how much more petty and myopic the content is. trashposts.
