I have just started reading St. Michael's Scales, by Neil Connelly. I haven't gotten very far, but the writing style is interesting and the character development seems interesting and complex. What books are you reading, Minichan?

I think you mean "Are you Muslim?" The answer is no. I'm reading it because I'm studying Afghanistan's culture, and since their religion is central to it, I'm familiarizing myself with the religious texts. It's actually very short compared to other religious texts. It's a pretty good read as well. Most people don't know anything about Islam other than what they hear from rednecks and the media. I think everyone should read it.

I'm reading 'The Brethren' by John Grisham, its my first Grisham book, thought I'd give him a try and I'm rather glad I did, it's quite enjoyable so far. I only hope the ending is satisfying, I hate ambiguous or just shitty endings, it can ruin the whole book for me, no matter how much I enjoyed it.

My all-time favorite novel is Thirteen Reasons Why, by Jay Asher. For all of my love of big, sweeping science fiction or fantasy epics, I love how... unambitious? the book's scope is. It takes place over one night, analyzing why one teenage girl killed herself, interspersed with commentary by a likeable protagonist. I'm probably describing it in a poor way. Anyone interested should check out the synopsis. What's yours?

Nah, that's mainly a running gag I use. I do have respect for her work though; I don't agree with it but I have to admit that the metaphors she uses are rather intriguing. Defining your philosophical approach in a +1000 page book about the train industry takes a lot of thought.

Just started Titan by Ron Chernow, though I'm not sure I'll finish it anytime soon. It's a biography of John D. Rockefeller -- as all of Chernow's books, very good (so far).

I would also recommend The House of Morgan and Washington by the same author (about J.P. Morgan and his son, and George Washington, respectively). One of the best biographers out there.

I am actually planning on growing and canning my own produce. But, I do tend to read books that have nothing to do with my life. Once, I came back from the Goodwill bookstore will a lot of self help titles that dealt with drunken and toxic parents and abusive relationships. Coworkers tried to stage an intervention until I told them that I'm just weird, not dysfunctional.

Someday I will read it cover to cover, but it is great just reading parts of it.
