i clicked this, so nevermind, i know what's up.
Don Dilillo wrote White Noise in 1985. Brilliant book. the airborn toxic event, Hitler Studies admiration, and obsessive pop culture references are all pretty dang prescient of meme culture, nationalism and environmental and public safety recklessness that makes me worry postmodern authors like Thomas Pynchon had the right perspective to write Gravity's Rainbow. David Foster Wallace would have loved to write a 600,000 page book about tornadoes, math, tennis, train derailments, transgender wheel chair assassins, filing long form income taxes late, the mating habits of jellyfish, video cassettes, masturbation, toxic accidents, urban planning, and it would have used half the pages for footnotes and endnotes, and no one would read it either.

Yup she retired from the internet to go live in a yurt in Wyoming. We tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't listen. Last I heard she was embarking on a spiritual journey to the center of her own subconscious via the pineal gland. Keep her in your prayers. 🙏
