Topic: Universities are among the most corrupt institutions in society.

Anonymous A started this discussion 3 years ago #109,108

* Hub for snobs.

* Put young people into debt.

* Pay most of their staff shit, despite that insane tuition

* Spread ideological propaganda first, actual science and arts are secondary.

* Waive fees for women more than any other group, same business model as "lady's night" at the pub, charge men for the opportunity to talk to a mate.

* Steal the labor of grad students without compensation, using coercive techniques.

* Sell credentials necessary to check a box thanks to ubiquitous HR requirements. No living wage until you've paid off the neoclergy.

* Egregious parking fees.

* Work in coordination with the state and corporations in exchange for grants.

* Grade inflation. Anyone who's check clears gets an A.

Nothing in your statement is correct. Keep trying, though. Bless you for thinking of me.

You cannot prove a negative. It is your duty to prove your affirmative.

1. Yeah, but, everywhere else is full of people who wipe their hands on their pants. So. Why not keep the snobs in their area and leave looking down their noses to Europeans. Fixed inherently.

2. What do young people not have debt for? Everyone has debt. Young people aren't better than anyone, they're poorer. The perfect class of people to be IN debt. The ones you'd expect. Fixed by doing nothing.

3. Yeah. But then debt Still. Just make it an extension of high school, and start teaching multiple classrooms at a time with telepresence lecturers. Then hire a bunch of poor students to be TAs and tutors. Fix 2, AND 3 by hiring less qualified special skill workers, use technology and old school share crop philosophy to solve 3. Fixed, with budget cuts and chattel slavery.

4. Agree. Have a 2 year, 4 year, and 6 year kind if advanced degree system. 2 year technical school, 4 year is more broad, but basically the same, and 6 year is and always will be for idealogical bootstrapping post grads. Mostly just put more career related stuff in 2 years and leave all the fancy stuff like history and economics for the bourgeoisie.

5. This is fine. Get a job.

6. Don't charge grad students. Call it a trade.

7. Don't study lesbian dance theory and get a degree in making money through work. This is already a talking point in national discourse. It's why no one wants to pay for college with taxes like all the rest of education. Cause it's fine unless you get a degree in something really, really, really gay.

8. You can afford a car, but not tuition and going to meet mates? Priorities. Ur in college now. Take public transit, walk or get a lame bike.

9. ...get rid of grants and... Fix this and 2 and 3 and just pay for it from taxes like all the rest of school anyone goes to, and, not let them build 30 million dollar lesbian dance theory departments, 50 million dollar gyms when 24hr fitness is like right there, and get rid of dorms and, I mean, colleges literally just blow their budgets building stuff hardly anyone uses -libraries? Its 2023, download Google, needs. They have to blow their millions upon millions or they wind up with crazy surplus, because they are a rip off, and if everyone say all the billions a year that get spent on private school budgets alone, yikes. Most of college can be completed on a laptop from a ministorage locker converted into desk rental kinda thing. 50 bucks all day. Free wifi. It'd make bank. And be cheaper than a semester pretty much anywhere except community colleges. Which are subsidized by local governments and state and federal money, just saying. Money is expensive, don't waste it on junk like a place to take photos for orientation folders.

10. Yeah. Well, I mean, we are paying them, a HUGE amount of money. Just HUGE. 20k a semester, uh, you better just A me or I might as well NOT go into debt for 60 years. Guh.
But community College is like 120 bucks per semester plus books. Flunk away Mr. Stickler. If it was free and based solely on meritous achievement - even better.

Money though, yeah, I mean, it buys things. They don't do their best to get the money. They take it. So, I do my best and buy an A.
This is actually true, and this is pretty much how colleges do everything possible to force a graduation on you.

Just good customer service really. Unlike high school, which is not that. And you can flunk or make As and you know what, after 12 years -no debt! College 1 semester? 20k in marble tiles for the new dorm water park!

Pretty much. Yeah.

Wrong. You can easily prove it by showing you are qualified or have a job teaching anything above ESL to third world children.
