I just wanted a nice quiet afternoon but now I have to blast loud music in my headphones because they're so god damned loud and annoying. This stupid motherfucker is on the phone with Fedex trying to track a package, and he just keeps yelling the tracking number over and over again and then afterwards shouting "FUCK" or "GOD DAMN IT" or "FUCKING CONNECT ME TO SOMEONE"

Protip, anon, get a white noise app. It's fantastic for reading in public when people are talking loudly. It's much nicer than blasting music, too, you start to tune it out after a moment and can just focus on reading.

I remember this one time when I was freshly in high school, my freshman year, the same year that was my older brother's senior year there, I became aware that instead of riding the bus home or walking (our house was a 15-20 minute walk away) after the final bell, he would end up in the library reading. One day, unaware of my awarededness since, I tried to sneak up on him but before I could perhaps jolt him from a quick "Hey!" and a shake, he ended up scaring me when he lifted his head up and frantically looking left and right before his peripherals amidst his immediate swivels picked me up from behind and I asked how the fuck he knew, he said he didn't and that he heard someone scream loud af "FUUUUUUCK!" No one said shit up in there.

This is a good idea. I actually have a rain sound app on my phone that I use to help fall asleep sometimes. I might try that instead next time I need to.

+1 for white noise ("brown noise", too). Music doesn't help me because I inevitably pay attention to the lyrics, but white noise is grate.
