It is also okay if there are truly no other options in your area, for food or things you need immediately. For online purchases, there are always small businesses you can use.

There's nothing inherently wrong with large companies. They tend to be more efficient and that ought to be good for all of us.
A lot of high technology has and probably could only come from multibillion dollar organizations. AT&T, Intel, ...
The problem is more related to the distribution of wealth and, more recently, the effects of automation permanently eliminating jobs (the last of which isn't even a problem on it's own - it's actually a good thing - it's only because of the wealth distribution that we all "need" jobs).
Let's not force sub-optimal solutions to avoid fixing the main one.
