I don't understand how she got to the point where she believes she is this master chef when the food she cooks is generally mediocre and incredibly basic. Growing up, my parents always said she was a great cook because she's worked in food service her whole life and I just took their word for it. We never went out to eat and I rarely had dinner anywhere else, so I never had anything to compare her cooking to besides public school lunches. As a kid, I thought that I hated eggs, steak, and porkchops. Turns out she just doesn't know how to cook them! Once I grew up and started cooking myself, going out to eat, and eating my friends' cooking, I realized what I had been missing out on. She burns eggs! She cooks steak and porkchops until they're so tough they're impossible to chew! Everything she makes is bland and boring. But she thinks she's a great cook! Recently my cousin got married, and she was offended when they hired a caterer for the wedding instead of asking her to cook. She complained to me on the phone asking, "Am I not the cook of the family?" God I fucking hope not!
