A distraught mother listened on a mobile phone as her teenage daughter was eaten alive by a brown bear and its three cubs.
Olga Moskalyova, 19, gave an horrific hour-long running commentary on her own death in three separate calls as the wild animals killed her.

The story was truly horrible nor was it the first tyme I have read such sad tales. Years ago as I remember it the LA Times reported a story about a bear carrying off a girl from her tent and people heard her say "the bear is eating me"
As a long tyme hiker backpacker and mountain climber - We all know that women are often in more danger re bears if they are having their period. Bears just like dogs have ultra sensitive noses.
One solution is for women to take a birth control pill to hold off her period, during camping trips. And in fact when I was married and mountain climbing with my wife, she did exactly THAT.
In all my years of such adventures I only encountered a Bear close and personal, just one tyme. In my sleeping bag at edge of a cliff in Yosemite the night b4 a solo mountain climb. In a camp ground for climbers and parking lot access. Someone had something good that a bear wanted in their Ice box.
Middle of night bear started moving the ice box trying to open it up. Rolled directly towards my head and with a flash light I starred directly in2 eyes of the bear. Must have been real sleepy and woke up in AM with Ice chest at the tip of my forehead. My guess is that I did not appeal to tastes of that Bear.
One of several close encounter animal tales I have to tell. The others are far more better.
Did eye pass out? No clue

Another Solo trip - Back pack in Sequoia and needed a permit for the planned Fri nite Sat/Sun
Permit station was closed and was listed as open when I arrived - So I left a note and moved on for the simple 10 miles to the authorized camp place to sleep.
Was a Full Moon night except Mountains blocked the Moon so I never had any light.
Almost from the get go I felt a (presence) Kept dropping back pack and used flash light but never say anything - This happened so often I became exhausted and a bit worried. Decided about 7 miles in2 trip to just go to a ledge of Rocks and set up sleeping bag.
AM still sleeping and my foot is kicked to wake me up. Ranger says get dressed and I figured I was in trouble re no permit plus the illegal camping. Got dressed and ranger walked me over to the trail and pointed out my footprints and said take a close look - Then we walked about 1/4 mile back on trial with those OTHER Foot prints rite beside mine.
Ranger said it was that way from the permit station all the way for the 7 miles or so.
Foot prints? Mountain Lion.
I tell everyone that in the first 25 years of Hiking Mountain climbing Back packing I had only viewed a Mountain Lions tail - then a head and some other tyme just a glimpse of a Body far off in2 some shrub. Then after 25 years I saw my first full Mountain Lion.
One other tyme with a group of friends in the 4 corners area USA - In a Canyon when we came out there were fresh Mountain Lion tracks in the wet sand and for several hours we noticed fresh tracks following us yet none of us ever saw the Mountain Lion.
So I had a companion for my solo venture for a few hours and that was Cool. These days not far from me there have been several Mountain Lion attacks on People including a few deaths.

@191,978 (Syntax)I had a mountain lion living in my barn at my old house, never knew it was there until my dogs cornered it one night around 10 pm, the dogs made a hell of a ruckus, I knew something was up as they were all pretty well trained and didn't bark at anything except visitors and animals. I took my flashlight out there and they had it surrounded at the bottom of a tree growing right next to the barn, I honestly didn't know what the fuck I was looking at. Wtf is that thing?!? I told the dogs to stay and went and got my car and drove it up to the barn for more light and a better look, but I STILL couldn't figure what the hell it was lol, I stood just behind my dogs, just a few feet away from it for about 5 minutes confused as hell. Every time it moved my dogs would freak the fuck out and inch in closer, it was showing its teeth etc, but I don't recall it making any noises. After a few minutes it turned around and jumped onto the lowest branch of the tree and climbed up into the barn, well that blew me away lol, I thought I was looking at some sort of odd dog or something until I saw its tail as it climbed the tree, when it climbed the fucking tree I was all like whoa, what the fucking fuck, a cat?!? I went into the house and looked up stuff on the net until I found it. The next day I took my gun and dogs out there (wasn't gonna kill it) and checked out the barn, it had a nice setup going on up there, hay in the corner for bedding and massive turds in place where it had to climb up to shit. Who knows how long it had been there, I hadn't been in the loft of the barn for years, never did see it again, but I bet it found a new place to live after that night. Fuckin' animals in the country man, I've had a lot of run ins, rabid coons, rabid coyotes, deer barely alive I've had to put down, barred owls (they sound JUST like screaming monkeys at night), I've even seen a snow owl. :')

City boy all my life so I do love my ventures to wildlife. When I lived/Worked/ in Australia I was surrounded by Parrots by the 1000's and of course Kangaroos. I was in Dubbo NSW about a 6 hour drive from Sydney and just inside the outback by not all that much. 38,000 people in the city - Satellite Tracking Command and Control stations with bank of Satellite dishes was out a bit in the country & Kangaroo encounters were a daily thing. Very few snakes and truly a deadly one now and then while working outside.

I read it in a book I used to have , but I can't find anything about it on Google. If I remember correctly it attacked a man on a wagon in the mid-60s, but he drove it away and it hasn't been seen since. But that road is really eerie to walk up in the dark.

This guy called Harold Norman was practising for his role in Macbeth in the 40s and accidentally got stabbed with a real sword, and he died of peritonitis, and he's supposed to walk around the stage area on Thursdays (the day he died). Next door, in Temperance Hall, a grey man is seen standing in doorways every Christmas Day.
There are Roman soldiers that have been seen marching at the Castleshaw roman camp which they called Rigodunum, as well as in the hamlet of Thurston Clough.
The Old Original is a pub which is haunted by the ghost of a woman who was murdered and thrown down a well. Another haunted pub is the Star Inn, which is haunted by a man who wears a short-sleeved shirt, hat and dark trousers who set off the alarms when he drifted through the place. the Radclyffe Arms has a dead man sitting at the bar, milking out a glass of beer.
