Wrong lol. Only someone with a very basic understanding of French would think that. The real meaning and irony of the phrase is more subtle.

You paid tens of thousands of dollars to get a degree doing what a native speaker like myself, from a country that speaks the language everyday, could do for free. You are a joke, dude.

You do not get a degree in a language to "learn to speak that language". You study the culture, literature, philosophy, etc. Growing up in a country does not mean you know necessarily anything about that country's history, culture, language, literature, etc. Example: USA. Most Americans are stupid and know nothing about English.

I certainly know Louisiana French, and French history, culture, literature, and philosophy better than even a Frenchman who has not studied them. I am just curious why you care so much that you are willing to post for hours about it on an obscure backwater forum.

Louisiana French is an, for all intents and purposes, extinct language.

I'm curious why a nearly 50 year old man would argue about his knowledge and career for hours on an obscure forum filled with people half his age on a Sunday night.

Why? Because you are a joke, like I said before. You know very little and make an ass of yourself in front of those of us that actually do.
Also, none of that addressed what I was talking about: > I'm curious why a nearly 50 year old man would argue about his knowledge and career for hours on an obscure forum filled with people half his age on a Sunday night.
