Given that wood be a matter of the 1000's of gals I have danced with over the many years 2 music for Jitterbug dancing - One wood have to ask one of them if eye can.
I could tell you about this last Sunday at La Jolla Cove where a very young gal (1st year at college) asked me for a dance. She was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over dressed from head 2 toe for the beach. Was shopping with girlfriends when she heard the music and came down the hill 2 see what was up. Probably a dance major in school as a guess because she was a dream 2 dance with.
Now she asked me for a dance then another later. So one wood have to ask her if eye can dance the Jitterbug.
Its a lot like someone who claims they can cook. "They" did a Youtube video of cooking a curry dish when the so called Chef dumps a can of Curry powder into a skillet and calls that a curry dish. In India there is no such thing as Curry Powder lol.
One wood have to b on the eating end of the dish to answer the question - was it really curry or slop.
One wood have to ask one of my 10,000 dance partners if I can do the Jitterbug eh

Well sure I did back when I was 18 lol
Dancing with 18 and younger but most venues are 21 age minimum however outdoor summer events are all ages. One fact of life is that except at Latin dances there are always ALWAYS far far more women then men. So its almost a sure thing when I ask a gal for a dance she will say yes plus I use a brail method in the asking. Usually 30+% I am asked for the dance or at minimum serious eye contact from a gal letting me know she wants to be next

Me thinks it depends on where one lives. When I was living/working in Australia there were dance studios all over the country and in this amazing small world we live in - I passed by one on the street in Brisbane and dropped on in and just observer'd - three years later at a party for dancers here the couple who ran that studio were in town and at that party - what a shock.
Here and in LA San Francisco - New Orleans - Lafayette - New York City - Boston - town I have been too where they offer even free dance lessons - One does not even have to pay to learn to dance. Each of those towns have dances that start out with lessons which may be part of the say $10 to attend the dance. 3 places I can think of that give lessons for free here every week for one full hour.
Key is that accept for Latin dances - there are always far far far more women then men. So odds are rater HIGH one is going to be said yes too when asking. Saying you're new even helps because gals want more men in the mix and many will help.
Getting laid? Easy if one ends up as an acceptable person and shoot in my life a few tymes I was not exactly acceptable re mood yet got laid even a few tymes when It was NOT my intention.
Ski clubs - Now if one wants to meet gals and get laid I highly HIGHLY recommend a ski club and lots of people that have never even taken a lesson discover that Ski clubs do events when there is NO SNOW to ski on. Healthy healthy people dance and ski and the best people to LAY with are those in2 a exercise routine - Dancing Skiing Surfing - Runners - Those in2 Marathons - They do get laid I bet more often then those who just play on net and watch TV
