Topic: Should I take out a large loan and quit my job?

jump? started this discussion 15 years ago #10,702

I can get 10k tomorrow from this place. They send me shit all the time because I took out a 3k loan over a year ago. I'm now pre-approved (not qualified) for 10k.

My friend's wedding is less than 2 months away. 10k would be more than enough to party kind of hard until then. I'd even buy a car to get me around.

Yes. But what will you do with all your time? I'd need about $100k for a healthy cocaine and heroin addiction.

No interest in that. I'd lay around doing nothing, on between gorging and masturbating (I have enough weed to last me, even if I smoked constantly. Just stocked up.)

You have no interest in synthetic happiness? I can't understand it.

I can't see how you'd spend 10k in two months without doing something like that

no, but build your credit.

Since you're approved for ten grand, take it. Cash it out, and put it in the bank. Sit on it for 1 year, and then pay it off with the money in the bank. consider the interest paid as an investment in a higher credit rating and they will be willing to raise your limit again, probably to 25k. Just make your monthly payments on it, and build your credit. Do this again in a year, but do it with another card. After a few cards, and a few years your credit rating will be stellar, and you'll have 100k available credit. You can then start a business if you like and use your credit to get it going. Your credit will be good enough to get you a really nice mortgage. It can be a life saver, too.

essentially you'll be buying a better credit rating. it just works.

Just don't abuse it by spending it on stuff.

Well, I'd blow a lot at my friend's batchelor party. I'd try to get coke for it, I guess. I dont have any interest in those kind of drugs, but I wouldn't turn it down if offered.

I'd probably get a few prostitutes. Why not? If I felt bad, it wouldn't be for long. I feel terrible all the time anyway.

I'd get delivery every day. I'd get chicken wraps. Every day. Shit is good.

It really works, but the critical part is putting the 10k (or 1k) in the bank and not spending it. It'll even draw a slight interest itself and slightly offset what you're doing. Too much available credit can be bad too, but I have no idea the ratio. But, it's a fantastic way to jump start your credit rating. Banks will loan you more. better rates. It's pretty solid.

No. I don't know where to get heroin (I mean, I know WHERE street dealers are, but I'd probably just get robbed), and coke doesn't really do much for me (tahrs true for most stimulants).

There isn't a great enough desire. If someone was like "here's some heroin" I'd dig right in though.

excellent rating. I'll be purchasing a house, which is the only reason I use credit for anything at the moment. After I buy a house I may relax and use it more freely, but I generally dislike credit so I might keep the one card and not bother expanding it to two. I'm not planning on starting a business or anything fancy, so I'll probably lower my limit. Not that it's stupid high right now or anything.

My brother taught me this, he did it over a 10 year period and opened a business with it, so, lol. That's who I got the idea from. He also had the 1 year no payments/interest and floated the debt around and just payed the minimums which was only going towards the principle at the time. Helped during tight times. I forgot what other shenanigans he pulled, but my other brother is an investment guy which is who he learned it from, so... all I know is I want a house.

I could also cash out my 401k. It wont be as much (penalties and taxes), but maybe that's more honest? I guess that money would likely end up going towards the loan anyway.

I have a life insurance policy from my work that pays out one year's salary, I don't know if it works on non-accidental deaths other than murder, though. Since I think it doesn't, and can't find any info online, I don't see a reason to stick it out to the end.

I don't still have the info, which I'm sure was given to me on it.

Read the fine print. 10K line of credit looks good until you read the fine print. The actual cash value you can get from the account is sharply limited. Might be as much as 3K total in cash.

Of course you can still order food and booze and charge it to the card but do not expect much in cash value.

From years of experience it works best to use a line of credit EVEN IF you have no need for it.

The more often you use it the better your credit score is. Then one day when you really can use a lot of credit it is easily available. Mess with it in any way and you end up with decade plus of grief.

For example just this year I have picked up $550 in REAL Cash money from Three banks. Chase gave me $150 after 6 weeks for just opening a new checking account. Later they offered me $150 with a 60 day wait IF I accepted a new Chase credit card and I already had one. IF I had waited just one more week the amount would have been $200. So yes I R pissed I missed out on the $50

The balance of the $200 this year so far is from Bank of America who I already have accounts with. Each bank creates new products and in the case of B0A it was some new deal with American Express who I already have cards with.

There will be more money this year because other banks are making the same kind of offers.

The downside is- One dare NOT cancel a card. That is NOT a good thing for credit scores.

I have considered living in New York city for one full year because I have a super place available at no cost on the West side just across from the park. And for sure I would NOT own a car there. The concept of driving in New York City makes no sense at all.

A few months. It's not convient. I'd have to walk 15-20 minutes each way to the grocery store, or get a ride. I hate going, so I just don't now. I will maybe once a month.

It sucks, but I really dint want to drive anywhere. I really hate taking the train. It used to get me really stressed, but I don't give a fuck if I'm late anymore. I just hate being on the train. I feel awkward. I also get paranoid.

I just would rather not have to do these things.

Sounds hectic, crowded and shitty. Fuck the city lol. How can you relax in an environment like that? I'm sitting here listening to the crickets and frogs, looking at a sky full of stars, its nice and peaceful. Have you ever considered a change of scenery? Vacations are nice to get away from it all, but they are so short... it just leaves you wanting more. You're not happy where you are, maybe things could be different for you elsewhere. Its a thought...

Consider THIS!!!!

I have traveled the World for much of my life and notice that in places where people have to walk DAILY - They do not get obese. Those that drive everywhere end up as far more lazy and of course end up Obese for the most part.

For instance in Moscow or Siberia in Russia the Russian Mafia all drive SUV's and all are Obese.

Ordinary Russians who do not drive eat leaner meat of course and in total you never see them Obese. That holds from South America to China and from Australia to Russia.

If not for a plan on getting daily exercise I would be Obese as well. So yes I say I am going to walk to the store and have but usually drive, what wood be a simple 20 minute round trip walk. But I do my daily 10 mile run so I do not feel guilty plus the Endorphin high daily is very very cool.

Yes and I worked and lived in Russian for 6 months at a tyme and frankly loved it. Terrific people. Mafia introduced themselves to me in a official way offering help if I ever needed it. My fav story about Russians. First week in Russia I found a beer similar to Guinness. Found it at a cart on corner near my hotel but could not get the gal inside the cart to understand what I wanted. I asked for help from passers by and a guy translated for me. Then he asked me if I would buy him a drink. I said to self oh shit here we go.

It was his English and he meant to say to me- Can I buy you a drink? I again said to self oh shit. But I followed him a few yards to the stairs leading down to a frozen river with his full extended family having Vodka and home baked items. Russians drink Vodka with a chaser of very very weak fruit juice.

I offered to go to the local store and buy Vodka and discovered that is not acceptable. Russians all say we are poor but what we have is yours. So great hosts and invites to dinner. Got to know the whole family and neighbors over a year plus of trips over there for work.

Cannot even take a gift of wine or food items but a small inexpensive toy for kids was acceptable. I do continue to send Christmas gifts to the kids every year.

Fact is other then Columbia (Drug traffic and kidnappings) I have yet to go anywhere without nice people - Even Columbia which is really a neat country is just super, but currently not a place to be. I suppose I wood now find Sudan to be unpleasant but have been there and the people are just super.

Probably more rude people in New York City or Newark but my experiences are 99% perfect when it comes to travel. Only once was ripped off and that was in Morocco on a vacation with a Girlfriend and considering it was for $1000 - shoot in total years of travel that's chump change.

Maybe I loved Russia more then most because I am 1/2 Russian. Loved the simple food but admit I never did end up loving the mass of buckwheat they try to feed you. Also never had a Borscht that was really Red like my Grandmother or Mom made.

One of those guides you hire so you can navigate the city without the beggars driving you insane. I only do that when with a GF on trips. Kid took us after a few days to a rug shop and we wanted to buy a rug anyway. Paid for it and it never arrived nor could I get the credit card company to resolve it. Should have used my American Express card but at that tyme the only one I had was tied to my work and I did not want to mix personal and work on that card but COULD HAVE!!!! So bottom line it was my fault.

Its not like $1000 over the long haul hurts but the rip off is so rare in my world - Now a better memory is sending some stuff at the hotel out for cleaning and the maid returns with a $20 bill in her hands - Cleaners found the money and returned it nor would she or they take a small reward for the return- Said it was against the Muslim rules. I did leave a very nice tip when we checked out because that one can do. Made sure the maid got it.

So over all that $20 return is a far more better memory then the loss of the $1000

That may have just been a mistake. I heard an almost identical story, but they got the rugs. It was just that they didn't want a rug (I also heard the same thing on the Joe rogan podcast, but forget who it was that it happened to). The guy on the Joe rogan podcast said the guides look like Jedis. My friend didn't mention that, though. I would think it would be the first thing you say.

More a bank in that City making promises to correct the mistrake yet it never did happen.

In New Orleans we sent out a mass of stuff to be cleaned and they found several hundred dollars my GF stashed for safe keeping lol. All returned. We got a cab and picked up some food and went to the cleaners with flowers and food as a thank you. Over all I just cannot think of any real negative anything in years and years and 100,000's miles of business or fun travel.

Water in Hotel in Siberia came out brown LOL but that was the 2nd best digs Qualcomm could find for me. The best place was not acceptable re hookers knocking on doors at 2AM much too often but even then that was just prior to me coming on over to join some mates for work. So one just bought lots of bottled water and used it to rinse off after a shower of very rusty muddy water from the shower with wayyyyyyyy to much chlorine. Then again the guy I pay good money too keep my Jacuzzi clean and proper did just that yesterday. 2Day I got out fast re overload of chlorine.
