Some countries will grant you citizenship if you can prove you're descended from someone who lived there. Different places have different rules in terms of how many generations back you can go and such.

From what I've seen, the cutoff is usually grandparents or great-grandparents, but I've only looked at a handful of countries.

I'm jealous of people with that opportunity. I'd leave the US in a heartbeat if it was that easy for me to gain citizenship elsewhere.
