I have a license for legal medicinal. I tried edibles, but they just made me anxious and they did not feel good at all. Do you think smoking would be a better experience, or will it just be the same?

Wow is weed really this expensive in legal states?
Also worth discussing, what kind of edible doses were you taking? Weed these days tends to be grown with little in mind but maximizing THC content so it's very very easy to get way too fucking high when you smoke if you have no tolerance built up (not good if you get anxious when high). 12% is low compared to some stuff I've seen but it's still a lot. Keep that in mind before you decide that smoking is too intense or something compared to edibles, one teeny tiny puff might be all you need! Luckily the high from smoking is much shorter than from edibles, so if you overdo it you just have to be uncomfortable for a couple hours instead of all day long.

these percentages are on par with what I sell for mostly CBD dominant stuff. anything under 18% is lower than... anything I've smoked pretty much my whole life and that's all this place seems to have.

Really, is 12% is normal for CBD dominant strains? That still sounds like a lot of THC to me, but I don't live in a legal state so I'm not as familiar with this kind of data, and you work with it every day so I trust you. Maybe 12% isn't so intense/anxious when there's a higher-than-usual amount of CBD present?
I sound like an old man but I miss the "good old days" when I could comfortably smoke a whole joint and be stoned but not incapacitated. With this newfangled modern stuff one hit has me absolutely blasted during periods when my tolerance is low. But of course the weed I was buying back then was real shitty in other ways, lots of stems and seeds and the smoke was definitely harsher and not as pleasant. In recent years I've really taken to buying high quality "hemp flower" online which has next to no THC, and mixing it with the strong stuff. Best of both worlds! Nice smooth tasty smoke, but it doesn't get me so baked that I can't function. I wish I lived in a legal state where I could just buy some nice 5% stuff or something, if that even exists. Out of curiosity, what's the lowest THC % flower you guys sell at your store?
> Really, is 12% is normal for CBD dominant strains?
it's the upper end. we'll have 3 CBD dominant strains out most of the time and they'll usually have ratios like 5% CBD to 12% thc, 1:1, or 12%+ CBD to ~1% THC.
> Maybe 12% isn't so intense/anxious when there's a higher-than-usual amount of CBD present?
CBD seems to balance these things out quite a bit, yeah. but if you're tolerance is such that 12% is intense, it still might be too much.
> But of course the weed I was buying back then was real shitty in other ways, lots of stems and seeds and the smoke was definitely harsher and not as pleasant.
numbers really don't matter that much after a certain point. they've gotten higher, sure, but there's still plenty of bad weed that tests high. it's dumb and counterintuitive but it's mostly just grow quality and genetics that determine what the effects will be like

currently 5%, a 2:1 cbd strain called monkey trick. otherwise we haven't (until now) been buying regular flower under 20% because people here don't want it. so 18% will be the lowest THC that we have most of the time. the numbers are so skewed that even good pot that tests low gets the boot. the average is probably 25%

Yeah I'm definitely in the minority in wanting weaker stuff. I get why the trend has been more toward maximizing THC since that's what most consumers want but I wish there was more variety in terms of cannibinoid profiles. Maybe that is a thing and I'm just ignorant of it, being in a backwards ass state that still outlaws the stuff. That monkey trick sounds like it would be right up my alley though. At work do you hear much about other cannabinoids besides THC and CBD? Whether from customers looking for them or from distributors/growers or whatever? I think it's still a niche thing but there's a whole world of isolates nowadays, it's super easy to buy all kinds of different cannibinoids and make your own super customized oils. CBN is my favorite to add to my carts, it's so nice for night time use and getting snug and comfy before bed. It would be so cool to be able to go to a dispensary and pick up flower that naturally contains whatever blend of cannibinoids you want beyond just the THC:CBD ratio. Maybe some day!

yeah everything has to get tested. the tests are not always honest honest because shady but oh well. they are accurate to what was tested and testing is pretty comprehensive

would be cool, but it's still a plant and you can only do so much! my understanding re cbn occurrence in flower is that THC will break down into cbn over time. don't know if that's when it's flowering or curing or both. cbn and cbg and delta 8 or whatever for concentrates are kind of a shifty business because some manufacturers are supposedly synthesizing these things from hemp CBD or whatever or something with little to no oversight. but i don't like vaping anyway. that isn't to say it isn't naturally occurring but I like to know where stuff like that is sourced 🤷🏻
