Topic: I am currently (hopefully) smoking my last bowl of the devil's lettuce for a whole year

My goal is to go a whole year without any mind altering substances stronger than caffeine just to make sure I have the self control/mental fortitude and to prove to myself I'm not an irredeemable addict. I haven't gone more than a couple months at a time without drinking or smoking or what have you for the last ten years. How long will I last, forum? Place your bets!

Thank you my friends. I hate it already! But I hope that announcing it to the world in thread form will help shame me into sticking with it.

Thanks! Let's hope I get to the next one lol. I had a dream a few nights ago where a friend was drinking and offered me a shot and I took it without even thinking, and I felt so defeated. Woke up feeling like a failure for a few minutes until I realized it was just a dream.

I've had something like that dream multiple times and I've seriously questioned whether or not it was a dream or if it had actually happened and I'd forgot. But it's always been about nicotine, not alcohol or weed (lol)

God damn it guys I threw out my back again and my doctor gave me cyclobenzaprine. He told me it wasn't habit forming and all it does it make you a little sleepy, but I looked it up and found lots of posts of people taking it to get high, even at low doses. I feel like if I take this shit I'm throwing away my quest to be sober for a whole year. I just want my back to stop hurting :(

Six months. Half way there. I ended up not taking the meds my doctor gave me. My back eventually got better and I'm in physical therapy now. I've had multiple dreams like I mentioned before, where I take a drink or smoke without even thinking about it and then feel like shit when I realize what I've done. Some days I still really want to drink or get high. Six fucking months. Most definitely the longest I've gone without substance abuse since I was 18.

This is a completely useless exercise. It's no different than the nofap movement which is no different than any other religious movement. Fucking join up with the Amish already and stop doing things half-way.
That or just be a part of modern society, exercise a modicum of self-control, and stop falling for meme lifestyles. It's not that hard. And, odds are, neither is your life.

Thanks friend, I know K is just misguided and believes his own life experiences apply to everyone. Some day he will learn.

Thanks! I'm feeling a little more clear headed. It's nice to not rely on it to immediately ease any and all boredom I experience, which has led me to do more with my time besides just sit around. It's also nice being able to drive whenever I want to without worrying about being too drunk or stoned lol. I'm still depressed af though

My friend is always doing this. "I'm going to quit after this last joint, I'm just using up what I have, I'm for sure going to quit. But obviously I'll still smoke it if someone comes around, I'm not paying for it... And there's nothing really wrong with having one on a night... I'm going to limit myself to 3 a day, there's nothing wrong with that... I'm going to quit..."
Meanwhile when I quit I gave away the weed I had because I didn't want it any more.

Hey! Yes, still sober, tomorrow makes three years! Overall pretty good, sometimes I still miss it but for the most part I don't even think about it anymore.
