It's a name I picked in honor of my elderly coyote mutt, Sam. He's a half coyote, half lab that my friend dug out of a burrow down by the river. He's the only survivor of his litter, and he'll be 15 next month. I adopted him about 3 years ago because my friend was living out of his truck at the time, and it wasn't a good way for an old dog to live.
