I didn't know what the word "potpourri" was pronounced like for the longest time. I've heard of it, but never seen it written down. In my mind I pronounced it "pot-poury" not "poe-purry". Then one day it clicked they were the same thing.

my grandma knew I was trans before anyone else did. I distinctly remember (true story) when I was around 8 or 9 years old, she was in her recliner just sitting there watching me and my Uncle Rob's daughters drawing pictures and coloring them, and she said, Nicky, if you were a girl, you'd be so pretty you'd have to beat all the boys off with a stick. And you know what, i'll be danged if she wasn't half way right about that.
