Topic: Today was every fast-food worker's nightmare.

This morning, I came into work at 10 AM, only to find out we didn't have any extra bread left (we had bread thawed, but we didn't have any extra bread stored that would've helped us during lunch), and on top of that, my co-worker hardly had any prep done (to be fair, he was recently hired, and willing to open/close, so because of that, he was slow).

So I go to help him with the prep. I print out all the labels, and I do the turkey and ham. But after that, before I could continue, we slowly start getting customers between 11:45-12:00. We think it was going to be an easy few customers, then we can continue finishing prep. Nope. Then we get more customers, to the point that a line starts to form.

Now, we don't have any time to prep anymore. And on top of that, we don't have any backup. Normally, the closers would put the leftover food away in the fridge out in the front, and we would make the backup. But we had NOTHING in the fridge! And again, we didn't have anytime to make any more backup. And again, we didn't have any extra bread. So of course, we had to make all the bread, DURING the lunch rush

And that went as well as you'd expect it. All the bread was going fast, we're getting online orders, and customers are coming in left and right, and we even had a baseball team come in and take all of the bread my co-worker made this morning. At this point not only were we running out of bread, we were ALL OUT OF BREAD! Like, we only had ONE option left, which was Wheat bread, and we were down to ONE PAN (luckily, we were able to make more of each just in time).

And not only that, but all the meats, cheeses, and veggies were running out. Specifically, all the ingredients that we didn't have time to prep. There were some sandwiches that we were unable to make, because we didn't have enough ingredients. And the online orders were asking for the type of bread we were completely out of at one point, which put us in a serious pickle, and there were two or three customers who were getting 5 sandwiches WHILE WE WERE LOW!

Now, usually, the line would slow down right around 1pm, which would give us plenty of time to get everything caught up. But the line never slowed down. Probably because we were going pretty slow, due to the small amount of ingredients we had. But anyway, I had to tell customers, some coming in groups, that we were extremely low on ingredients, and even didn't have a certain type of bread left, which made some customers leave, but we were still getting customers. To be honest, I thought I was going to die. Seriously, I was so sure we were not going to survive. Because we were, in NO WAY, prepared for that busy ass day.

Finally, 2:30 rolls around, and the line finally stops. We had so much dishes piled up, that one of us who did the dishes filled the soap water, and the sanitizer to the brim of the sink. Also, all the time we had to do the prep was completely gone. All of our shifts were coming to an end, and we only has very little last minute backups done. So basically all our priorities were doing dishes, cleaning up, making bread, and taking care of last minute customers.

Now I'm finally home, and typing this whole thing out. That was my day, how was yours? 😩😩😩

It's funny how often it's not about the workers but the customers, meanwhile we are both. I Just got woke, thinking about walking to McDonald's for cheese burgers but I can't remember if they serve that so early. Possibly throw my trash into the neighbors underground trash can again.

It is surprisingly hard to describe a workday without a wall of text.
